Most mathematicians have trouble with combinations of mathematics and poetry because they can’t think non-mathematically about mathematics; most poets have trouble with combinations of mathematics and poetry because they can’t think non-poetically about poetry. That is, in mathematical poetry, words are treated mathematically. This is taken as an abuse of mathematics by most mathematicians, and as an abuse of words by most poets. Segreceptuality. C. P.
