Entry 480 — My Big Show

It took place 10 August 2011 at the Port Charlotte Library:

One of the few who visited my table was my friend Jerry Eckert, who is responsible for the fine photographs.  One of which is the following of my curator, head librarian Alison Layne:

Here I am at my table:

A quick summary of the affair.  I like to think of it as my First One-Man Show.  But I had only one of many tables, and during the four hours (10 AM to 2 PM) of the celebration (of the library’s 50th Anniversary), only a handful of people visited my corner of the second floor.  I wasn’t at all surprised.  Basically, all I wanted was a chance to see my works actually on display.  All my framed works but one were.  I also got a free lunch!  Nice, too, to be part of a celebration of something as important to the community as a library–one that my parents depended on 44 years ago, to boot, and that I also have taken many books out of.  It’s where the Tuesday Writers’ Group met for over ten years, as well–and that’s where I met Lee Hoffman, one of the most important persons ever in my life.

Nice presentation, Bob! “A handful of people”: that’s a lot – at least more than I had at my reading in Budapest. :-)
