Entry 1154 — Minoans in Canaan

An article in the July/August 2013 issue of Biblical Archaeology by Eric H. Cline and Assaf Yasur-Landau concerns excavations at tel Kabri, a site in what is now northern Israel which have resulted in evidence of contact between the Canaanites there at the time and Minoan Crete.  Their captions explain the two illustrations from the article below:

I’m posting them as a sort of memorial to my Creative Urge, now–as far as I can tell–dead.  They are perfect material for use in a long division poem, the fresco because from so wonderful and old a civilization as the Minoan, and for me so reminiscent of the work of Paul Klee, my favorite painter, and the other because of how much I love the idea of digging into the past.  But . . .
