Entry 128 — Vispo Sketches

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Well, I’m trying to get back on track but having a tough time of it.  I had ideas while taking hours to get to sleep last night, most of them variations on the idea my “sleep” poem is based on (which I’m pretty sure I stole from Marton).  So I tried one of them out at Paint Shop and had all kinds of trouble.  The first is the upper one below.  I intended it merely as the first step from my “sleep” poem to a new poem but liked what it did, so left it as a variation.  Minor but satisfactory.  I don’t like the one under it.  One error is the font of the central “gh.”  I don’t know how it got there.  I’m too worn out to change it, which (for me) would be more involved than you might suspect.  So I consider it a rough draft.  I no longer know whether to bother fixing it.  Nonetheless, it’s a Major Accomplishment compared to just about everything else I’ve been doing these past twelve months or so.  And it and its companion got me a third consecurive daily blog entry!  Whee.

Entry 127 — Still Functioning

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

I still feel crappy, but I’m all excited because I just caught up, as far as I know, with all the comments that this blog has gotten, and it’s only 8:30 AM.   I wanted to announce it in case I skipped a comment someone wanted an answer to.   If so, let me know.   I should get back to you by August.

There.  Not much of an entry, but I’ve now done two daily entries in a row.   I’m feeling like I might be able to do one tomorrow, too!

Entry 126 — My Present Condition

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

It’s lousy (my present condition, that is).  The latest setback was an infected throat I went to an ER about last week and got a prescription for an antibiotic for.  I’m better but chronically lethargic.  I remain pretty much crippled by what seems to be a combination of an arthritic hip and sciatica.  I’ll be getting an MRI on the hip in a week.  But, whee, I have a new chapbook out, thanks to Dan Waber.   Promotion copy is here. Almost everything in it is from this blog and its Geocities predecessor. 16 pieces, 5 of which I consider among my best. Lots of other excellent collections at this site, too.  Dan is adding new titles at what seems to be a rate of nearly one a day.

It looks like it’ll be a while before I’m up to writing anything of poetics interest.  There seems to be very little interest in the series of favorites among the pieces that didn’t make it into the gallery at The Pedestal that John and I put together.  Or much interest in the gallery.   Just one person at Spidertangle said anything about it.  So I’m chucking it.  However, I will feature and discuss some of the pieces not in the gallery that I particularly liked here eventually.

That’s it for this entry.  Apologies to all.  Again.
